Welcome to EditIQ—a blog where storytelling meets innovation, and personal history fuels creative expression.
I’m Thavisouk “Thavi” Phrasavath—editor, writer, director, and visual artist. My journey began in Laos and has taken me across continents, through the refugee experience, and into the heart of the creative industry. This life path isn’t just part of my backstory—it’s the lens through which I see, create, and share.
One of the most defining works of my career is The Betrayal (Nerakhoon)—a deeply personal documentary chronicling my family’s escape, survival, and search for home. It’s a project that earned an Academy Award nomination, a Primetime Emmy win, and recognition from the Film Independent Spirit Awards. But more importantly, it amplified a story that rarely gets told.
I’m proud to be the first Laotian-American writer accepted into the Writers Guild of America, West, and I carry that responsibility with deep respect. My philosophy is rooted in authentic storytelling, especially for communities and voices that are too often overlooked.
EditIQ is more than a blog—it’s my creative hub. Here, I explore the intersection of film, editing, AI, and narrative art. Whether you’re a filmmaker, a writer, a tech-savvy creative, or simply someone who values raw, human stories, you’ll find insights, tools, and inspiration drawn from decades of hands-on experience.
This space is about evolution. About merging old-school craft with new-school tech. And about staying true to the voice inside that insists: Tell the story.
Thanks for being here. Let’s create something that matters.
